All three major phone-based mobile wallets announced expansions to their services this week. These upgrades all increase the wallets’ available audiences and make usage more convenient, which could help push up adoption.
- Apple Pay launched in France. That marks the service’s eighth market worldwide and third in Europe. The platform will support Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards issued by four banks, with support for two more coming soon, according to 9to5 Mac. The wallet will be widely accepted — over 400,000 merchants in France already accept NFC-based payments, with plans for all merchants to accept contactless by 2020, according to Finextra.
