Mobile management vendors compared

VMware AirWatch, BlackBerry (BES12), Citrix XenMobile, Landesk, Microsoft EMS, MobileIron, SAP, Sophos, Soti and Symantec.
I am not a big fan of feature comparisons as it is not all you should have a look at. You also need to find out how the features are done (i.e. is the AD integration really a sync’ing integration or is it a one time snapshot of the AD that needs manual updates). You should also look at the usability of the solution, for the user as well as the admin. Are the features easily to find, is the console intuitive? Do the users understand what they need to do? Furthermore, you should make sure that you can get quick and high-quality support if and when needed. All these are soft-factors that are not to be found on any of these lists. Also, you need to know that if you want to use apps internally and roll them out with the EMM solution, what is the process, how do you make sure the apps are managed and separated from private content on the mobile device? If you need advice in this area, please contact me and we can go through your requirements and the things you should specifically pay attention to.
EMM also plays a role in overseeing expenses related to communications services, mobile policies and identity management.Enterprise mobility management (EMM) helps companies secure their mobile infrastructure, as well as control device policies and manage mobile apps, content, networks and services. The platforms have been around for a while; some might know them as mobile device management (MDM) suites. But those suites have matured and adopted new features.
Of these jobs, “content and applications are probably most important in a mobile environment, assuming the identity component is in place across the organization,” says Craig Mathias, principal at Farpoint Group, a research firm that specializes in wireless and mobile technologies and services.
